This BIN Shellac Primer is expensive and it smells – but I love it because it’s the only primer I’ve ever found that stops bleed-through, oily/greasy stains and bad odors 100% of the time! It works amazing on tannin bleed that is common in mahogany, oak or knotty pine. It also masks cigarette smoke or that old musty smell some vintage furniture has.

Hi Sharon!! I’ve used Kilz primer in a spray can (amazing coverage for ‘normal’ pieces not prone to bleedthrough!) but I buy my BIN Shellac Primer by the gallons – never spray cans. That said, I usually roll or brush on the BIN but I have sprayed it using a spray gun. Works beautifully. The only part I dont like is the clean up because it does require smelly thinners. All that said, I’m guessing if you only needed it for a smaller project, the spray should work fine! 🙂
