HOW TO MAKE SWEET DIY FLORAL EASTER EGGS USING TISSUE PAPER AND YOUR HOME PRINTER | FREE PRINTABLE
Hi beautiful #sifamily, thanks for joining me today! With Easter just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share a sweet DIY Easter Egg Project to get us into the Easter spirit. This simple project really brightened my day and it’s also relaxing and fun. This would be an amazing project for the kids or grandkids to do!
As a bonus, I’m sharing FREE PRINTABLES for these Easter Egg Designs which you can download at the end of this post.
I started with white eggs. I hard-boiled them so they were more ‘sturdy’ to work with. Honestly, I didn’t want to blow them out or work with them raw. That said, these are not edible after decoupaging. If you’re looking to keep these for years to come, investing in craft eggs (wood or plastic) may be the better option.
Here’s what they look like now. What do you think… aren’t they sweet and cheerful!?!

I remember as a kid (and into my 20’s) I loved creating Pansky Easter Eggs aka Ukrainian Easter Eggs. I really wish I still had some of them to show you because I practiced on a lot of eggs and got pretty good! My next-door neighbor was the one who introduced me to the craft. She was generous enough to let me and my little girlfriends sit at her kitchen table dying and waxing while she went about doing her laundry, cleaning, etc. There were a number of open jars with bright dyes on her kitchen counters, hot beeswax in the kistka, and an open flame. Looking back she was a brave woman. 😆
Anyway, this is a much simpler and safer version… especially if you’re including kids. All you need is tissue paper, a home printer, and some decoupage glue.
I’m thrilled with how these turned out. So gorgeous and spring fresh.

These are sooo sweet and sooo happy. Happy Easter to you ! Thanks for this – just in time.
I’ve gathered a pile of wooden eggs over time with plans to paint….
I was ready last Easter, but then my sister died unexpectedly.
I think with your really thorough directions I can now attempt this. It will make me happy knowing she would reallly have love these. We shared tons of goofy projects over the years.
I hope mine look half as good as yours ๐
Denise says
I’m so sorry about your sister P.๐ข So beautiful that you shared goofy fun projects and I’m positive your eggs will turn out fabulous. Hugs๐๐๐

Denise, Thank you so very much for this video, I am a lover of all things Ukrainian, and I have seen videos of how to make these eggs the traditional way, but it is beyond the limit of my patience. This is a great way to do it, and I will give it a go.
It appears that your neighbor who taught you to make the eggs was Ukrainian, and you said your father was Polish. Do you have Ukrainian ancestors?
Denise says
This is a great way to do it and doesn’t require any dyes or equipment and they turn out super cute! I don’t think my neighbour was Ukranian so I’m not sure where she learned the art. But yes, you have a great memory! My father was Polish (from Warsaw) and my Mum, although born here in Canada, her parents were Polish and Czechoslovakian.๐

Hi Denise! I wish I had more eggs to do. Mine are all decopauged and in my booth but yours look so much better. I will save the free printable. Thank you! I came across some Panske offs in Pinterest. They are amazing!!
Thank you for sharing.
Denise says
Thanks Cheryl and aren’t those Panske Eggs amazing?!! There are some really talented ‘egg’ artists out there!๐คฏ

I have a friend in Ukraine who does YouTube videos. I told her about your blog and she says she liked the idea and is is going to do an Easter video about/including Ukrainian eggs. She is Anna from Ukraine. I will let you know when I see it, or you can follow her channel yourself. As can any and all of your readers.
Denise says
I would love to follow and see her video!
Michael R Christie says
Michael, Anna From Ukraine is BOSS! I had the same thought, but you beat me to the punch. Good Show, Old Chap!

Linda Guzman says
I guess I am the only one with a question. Do you need to cut out each small flower. Thank you for the free beautiful printable
Denise says
If you want a variety of flowers on the easter eggs, yes you cut them out and place them where you like. However, you could use a ‘ribbon’ of the same floral around the egg and I’ll bet that would look super cute as well. ๐
gloria says
Your spelling was close! Pysanky is plural, or the term for the craft. Pysanka is one egg.
My heritage is Ukrainian, and I especially like that instead of “Happy Easter,” we say, “Christ is risen!” The response to that is “He is risen indeed!” To my way of thinking, it’s much more meaningful.
Easter is a very special holiday, with many lovely traditions, including special foods, the beautiful eggs with their incredibly intricate designs, and — my favorite — Paska an egg-rich, braided bread.
Blessings,
g
Denise says
ahhh, thanks for this Gloria!! I remember my Dad always made his Polish Easter sweet bread which was absolutely delicious. He would always complain it didn’t rise properly or it wasn’t up to the standards that his Mum used to make in Poland… but we LOVED it!๐ค

These are lovely! I would love to have a bowl full of these but I would get everything together, make 1 or 2 and loose interest (blame it on Adult ADD!). I admire your patience and skill in everything you make or paint. Stay safe and strong!

LOL… I hear you! Believe me, my ADD kicks in every now and then too. ๐ Stay safe and enjoy your Easter weekend Cecilia! XOXO

AHHHH, I THINK WAY BACK IN THE DARK RECESSES OF MY CRANIAL FILE CABINET, I KNEW THE TRICK ABOUT PRINTING ON TISSUE PAPER. THANKS SO VERY MUCH FOR BRINGING THAT BACK TO THE FRONT FILE. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO TRY THIS.
I LOOK FORWARD TO TUESDAYS, KNOWING THERE WILL BE A NUGGET OF GOODNESS IN MY INBOX FROM YOU.
Denise says
…”cranial file cabinet”…lol… that’s so funny! Happy Easter to you Diane! x
Caye says
What a cheery and lovely idea! That is so pretty. I thought it would be really hard to apply the tissue on a rounded or non-flat surface, but you achieved it so well. Kudos!!
Denise says
Thanks Caye! I think it would have been more difficult to apply if it was one large design but because they are smaller, it’s super easy. ๐ Happy Easter to you and thanks for dropping by! ๐
Monique says
Hi Denise. Iโm absolutely loving these sweet little Easter eggs. Theyโre so pretty and cheerful! Your story of making Ukrainian eggs as a young girl brought back memories for me. What I remember most about creating Easter eggs was the time I spent with my sister (and how her eggs were always more beautiful than mine). Lol. Thank you for sharing your crafty eggs and for reminding me of happy, carefree times:)
Denise says
Sisters are the best, aren’t they!๐So glad you like the eggs and Happy Easter to you and yours Monique! XOXO
Marcia says
Printing on tissue paper is a brilliant idea! And these are so pretty. I can think of other applications for this idea. And the printer ink is stable with the Mod Podge? The flowers and colors are so so pretty. Thanks for this fun simple project, Denise! Take good care.
Denise says
Hi Marcia! Yes, the printer ink holds up really well with the Mod Podge. The only challenge I had was on my first egg. I tried doing the entire egg all in one shot and brushed on too much product… brushing way too much and too hard. The ink bled slightly and then I ended up tearing one of the florals in half. Once I used less Mod Podge/brushing – easy peasy! ๐ Happy Easter Marcia and you take good care as well. XOXO
