Here are the mini pumpkins I started with. Pumpkins are selling everywhere now. Grocery stores, variety stores, Home Depot, and even Canadian Tire which is where I bought these cuties.
I bought a variety of sizes. The larger ones are for the outside of my home but these little ones are adorable and perfect for indoor decor.

ADDING TRANSFERS
I like to keep all my little bits of furniture transfer pieces. Partly because I’m thrifty and mostly because they are perfect for smaller projects like this. It’s a great way to piece them together to make a NEW beautiful design.
I grabbed a few transfer bits and started applying them to the pumpkins with this Rub ON Method.
Because the pumpkins don’t have a flat surface, I used one hand to hold the transfer down as flat as possible while I used the wood applicator to rub with my other hand.
These are real pumpkins so I’ll be getting rid of them at the end of the season so I didn’t topcoat. If you were to use faux pumpkins and want to keep them for years to come, you may choose to topcoat so they don’t damage each other in storage.
Now onto the complimentary pumpkins…
COPPER FOIL HIGHLIGHTS
To give my fall pumpkins variety and glam, I added metallic highlighting. I used a cheap foam brush and some Stick With Me Glue to add a little glitz to a few of these pumpkins. The glue was dabbed on randomly leaving open areas.
Then using this Copper Gilding, I added random pieces of copper to highlight the high areas and stems on these pumpkins. It is so easy to do. Once the glue is tacky (after 15 minutes) you press the foil against the tacky glue and the copper sticks onto it. Using the same piece of foil, I repeated until all the copper had come off the foil strip OR I liked the look.
This fall decor put me in the spirit of FALL. It’s one of my favorite times of the year!
THE FINISHED LOOK
Here’s the finished look…
Aren’t they sweet?!
I paired these DIY Pumpkins with my Gold Guilded Pears and they look awesome on my ‘new’ coffee table. You can see the full tutorial on How To Gold Guild Plastic here.
A few of them had some blemishes but that’s perfectly okay. I think it adds a little character to our makeover.

Denise, I’m curious if you use real mini pumpkins, can you keep them until they dry out and use them again the next year? I can remember reading somewhere how you can do that with gourds. They harden. I don’t know if it works with pumpkins–I know it doesn’t with with large pumpkins–they just start to cave in. 🙂
This is a great question and I’m speaking from experience here – NO they won’t last until next year. I displayed these in my home for a good few months, then tucked them away and forgot about them. When I pulled them out again, they were molding and caving in. Maybe there’s a way of preserving/hardening them?? and if anyone reading this comment has had success doing this, please leave a comment because I’d love to learn how to do this as well!
Ohhhhh, I had forgotten about doing this with my pumpkins. Such a simple way to add elegance to those orange beauties. Thanks for the reminder. xo 😘 Have a fantastic week. 🙂
Super cute, right?!… and so easy! Thanks my friend and I’m wishing you a great week as well! Hugs XOXO
Denise, the pumpkins are so pretty! Thanks for the inspiration! I think I’ll be glamming up my faux pumpkins so I can enjoy them again next year.
Hi Barbara, thank you! So glad they’ve sparked some inspo for your fall decor. Have fun!
I love the copper touches, Denise. I’ll give this a try, and I’m going to give some Fall-ish transfers a go on the faux pumpkins I’ve collected. Thanks for the Fall spirit my friend. XXO
I think the copper highlights with the natural pumpkin turned out really nice too. Sometimes I’m not sure so i just dive in…lol but I’m happy it turned out okay. Have fun with you fall pumpkins. So much fun!XOXO
Creative DEnise, I wouldn’t have thought to use transfers on pumpkins! This arrangement looks fall-festive on your new table!
Thank you Nicki! I think you can use transfers on just about anything! 😉 Have a great day my friend. XOXO
I was anxiously anticipating the outcome of copper with orange pumpkins and I absolutely adore these. Beautiful! And on another note, I have pumpkin stem envy. I search every year for the perfect stem on a pumpkin. Maybe this will be my year. Thanks for sharing this fun project with us. I’ll have to give this a try. Have a great week, my friend. xo, Do 😘
