This little salvaged side table has been hanging around for years. For whatever reason, when I hauled it home and started stripping and sanding it, I totally lost interest.
On a visit to the Restore this past Monday, I came across a $4 pint of Benjamin Moore’s “Dijon CC-210”. This dijon yellow was the perfect match for this little side table so I rushed home to mix me some DIY Chalky Paint! 😉
What a transformation… this before and after makes me smile!
I couldn’t be happier. This rescued side table is finally restyled and ready for a new home. The BM ‘Dijon’ paired with this gorgeous hardware {which you can also see here and here} and subtle distressing all add to its charm.
So what do YOU think of this Dijon Yellow? I always love to hear from you so feel free to say hi or chime in!
Also, if you haven’t had the chance to enter the generous $150 Dixie Belle Paint Giveaway… there’s only 3 days left! I can’t wait to announce the lucky winner on Monday!
Have a great day and an amazing weekend!
Denise

Would this chalk paint be suitable for a dining table would you use flat or satin paint?
Definitely suitable for a dining table Betty. A flat paint will give a more ‘authentic’ chalky finish.
Great job.. Beautiful color and tutorial easy to follow!
Thanks Valerie 🙂
Looks great….I am warming up to the colour!
Thanks Annie…have a great day!
I haven’t thought of that color. It’s eye catching and subtle at the same time! Even my wife likes it!
Unbelievable transformation.
Exactly…right! This yellow makes a statement without being in your face about it 🙂
The colour really suits the piece, beautiful. I wish we had a Hobby Lobby here, you always seem to find fantastic hardware there!
I’m in the same boat as you Annie… I wish we had a Hobby Lobby here too! I’m lucky that my sister enjoys cross border shopping with me and we make a day or weekend of it. 🙂
What a great color! It’s perfect for this piece. You nailed it!!
Thanks Sally! As soon as I saw the ‘Dijon’ in the Restore I knew it was a perfect match for this piece… only took about 3yrs to find this inspirations though…lol 😉
It’s a really nice, very pleasing to the eye. ?
Thanks my friend. <3 I'm loving your furniture creations too! x
Love the colour. It’s really pretty. The paint that you used to make into chalk paint, is it ordinary emulsion( like you would use on walls), or is it eggshell type paint that is used on wood/metal?
Thanks Tania! The paint I use for my DIY chalky recipes is a regular latex (water based paint) that can be used on to paint walls. However I get the best chalky finish when it’s in a flat/eggshell sheen rather than semi or gloss.
Sorry to drag this out, but it’s confusing. Over here (UK) we have Matt or silk finish vinyl (which I think is the same as latex) paint for walls, sometimes also mid sheen finish. The stuff we have for wood (window sills, skirting boards, banisters etc) is also water based (usually) and comes in gloss, egg shell, satin. Do I stick to the Matt wall paint for mixing with chalk? Sorry to go on! Thanks
No worries Tania. 🙂 In the UK, I believe your ’emulsion’ paint is the same as our ‘latex’ paint. Any water based paint will work however to get the chalkiest finish, I would suggest using a paint with an eggshell or matte finish. Hope this helps.
Beautiful job love the hardware
Thanks Ellen…and love this hardware too! On my last Hobby Lobby Run I bought about 20 of them to keep on hand!
Breathtaking transformation!
Thanks so much Kathi! 🙂
