How to Build a Beautiful Wooden Obelisk Trellis Out Of Scrap and Salvaged Wood | YouTube Video Coming This Weekend!
Hi, creative #sifamily, and welcome to another Trashy Treasures Tuesday! Garden season is short-lived here in Toronto, so I’ve been spending as much time as I can outdoors. We’ve also had some strong rain/wind storms that blew over my bamboo and plastic trellises and ruined all my runner beans, ugh. So today I’m taking some scrap and salvaged wood and turning it into a gorgeous wooden obelisk trellis – something I’ve been wanting to add to my garden for years. A HUGE thank you to my sister Andrea, who helped with this DIY as well… and we are pretty darn proud of what we built! 😃 If we can do — YOU can it!
In today’s post, I’m also sharing –
- My very favorite cutting tool
- How to get creative and use what you have on hand
- And more!

It’s also the second Tuesday of the month, and this means it’s Trashy Treasures Tuesday! I’m looking forward to seeing what our TTT crew, Christy at Confessions Of A Serial DIY’er, Nancy at Artsy Chicks Rule, and Kathy at Petticoat Junktion, have created. I hope you join me on today’s tour as well! I’ve included their before-and-after links down below.
Here’s the old scrap wood I’ll be using for todays diy trellis makeover.
I also salvaged these Ikea wood bed slats that someone had put out for bulk day… and a few other things for this DIY obelisk, which I’ll share in a bit!
