Hi friends – I hope you had an amazing weekend! This post is a little unconventional for the SI Blog. This week the focus is on finding inspiration for painting furniture vs painting furniture.
I rarely do round-ups even though I love them. The eye candy that other bloggers showcase is always a treat, and sometimes surprising. It’s an opportunity to glimpse at what the author is interested in, and also see what they look at to spark ideas.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, I headed out and bought a quart of Annie Sloans’ Antoinette. This soft, muted pink is the perfect color for a romantic piece.source :: Annie Sloan
But now I’m sitting here, and I can’t decide what piece of furniture to start painting. So, I’m on Pinterest and Google Images searching for inspiration.
I found these beautiful images, so I thought I’d share. I hope you find some ‘pink inspiration’ in them too.

Now I’m heading back down to my studio to find that perfect piece!
Hi Denise! I painted one of those scrolly plastic framed mirrors last week, I’m sure you are familiar with the kind I’m talking about. The frame was gold and I wanted a really worn look so I dry brushed a soft pink first, then a cream and finished it off with a soft gold wax. Sort of my version of rose gold. I am in love with it but unfortunately it’s up for sale. I wish my granddaughter’s room was pink.
Hi Josi!!! I know exactly what scrolly plastic frames you’re referring to and I’ve seen some pretty impressive transformations using them. With your talent, I’m sure your painted rose gold version is gorgeous!
All is just so beautiful to look at ; I ;ove all of your work, I look forward to newsletters from you and this is coming from someone who paints furniture too.
Thanks so much for subscribing and the kind words DiB! π
Hi Denise:
FYI – I actually received 2 separate blog posts on the same day regarding the use of pale pink for decorating and/or painting this spring and summer.
BTW – I have enjoyed the same wooden horse in my stash for more than 10 years because I didn’t have a clue what to do to it It will probably receive a coat or two of pale pink paint in the near future.
FYI – I personally find loads of inspiration on your blog.
That’s all for now, Nancy
haha, I bet many bloggers are in the ‘pink’ mood because of Valentines Day and spring being just around the corner. And lucky you Nancy, I love that wooden horse! It think it would look amazing in pale pink.
Just wanted to say I was really taken with your pink Inspiration. At first i thought, oh no, not pink until I looked further. I have a young granddaughter and everything has to be pink. Her mom lets her pick alot of things and I always think bubblegum. Your pinks were so soft and delicious, I wanted to drink them! I can’t wait to get in my granddaughter’s room. Everything you do is beautiful. I was wondering why the other comments were from 2015? Did I fall asleep?
Hi Joette! Glad you like the post and decided to take a peek even though your first reaction was oh-no. π As for the comments, you didn’t fall asleep..lol. For whatever reason, this comment landed on an entirely different older post from 2015. I’ve fixed it up. Sorry about that!
Lovely Images ! I have been thinking pink for months …my next project , painting a commode -not found the one i want yet but have everything that will sit on it – it WILL be pink with gold in it !!! Lovely images , funny though , the one that catches my eye is the top of the paint can with the gold rim , my colors !!! Before i can see my “Vie en Rose “I have to empty out a whole bedroom and closet first to do a miracle with an old floor $%#%%@ that WILL bring out my pink commode !!! Can’t wait to see your perfect piece …no doubt ( no pressure !) !
Hi Catherine! Pressure! Pressure! LOL π π π I’m glad one of the pics inspired you. Pink and gold look amazing so no doubt your project will turn out perfect. xo
Okay, you have me! Next painting project PINK! Beautiful inspirations pictures, thank you!!
Hi Carol! Glad the pics inspired you. I’d love to hear/see what you do! π
Yum. What a delicious shade of pink. Great photos! Can’t wait to see what you do with the paint….
Hi Marcia! Glad you enjoyed the round-up… and I agree, delicious-yummy shade of pink! π
I have a desk who would look georgeous in that shade of pink. Wanna come and work on it here in my garage. I’ll buy lunch for both. I’ll let you choose the pandora station too. (Doesn’t hurt to dream)
Hi Angelica! I’m guessing you’re in the U.S., Australia, or New Zealand which is a little out of my way for lunch. π But haha, I just ‘googled’ pandora station because I never heard of it! We don’t have Pandora here in Canada yet!
Beautiful pictures. They all inspire serenity too.
Yes! I must need a little peace and serenity in my life. π
What beautiful images to inspire creativity! I often look on Pinterest to inspire me to create, clean, or even just to cheer me up. I cannot wait to see what you end up painting in the soft pink Annie Sloan paint. I always look forward to reading your blogs.
Hi Monique! Thanks π And I wish Pinterest would inspire ME to clean! In that department… I need all the help I can get! π
Yay!! My favourite colour! Thanks for sharing these, they all of these look so tasteful and elegant… it should be socially acceptable to decorate for Valentine’s Day year round. π
Anything with curves and/or a lot of detail is a great match for pink, in my opinion. Pink goes well with brown or white wax and gold accents, so it’s good for this look!
Whenever I feel creatively stuck, I look at pinterest, look at pictures of animals with bio luminescence, astronomy pictures, or watch some Star Trek: TOS. I’m not sure why… but it works. π
Yes, your favourite! I remember from my last Pretty in Pink post! And speaking of luminescent animals and pink, Toronto has a Ripley’s Aquarium that has the most amazing JellyFish display! They are all lit up in amazing pinks. It is so gorgeous and psychedelic! I seriously could have stood there for hours watching these beautiful creatures. And I probably would have. But MMM said it hurt his eyes and wanted to move on. π
Yay, you remembered! π And that sounds gorgeous!! Lucky you for getting to visit it! You’re husband was missing out if he didn’t understand the appeal. π
Also, ugh, *your π
