Hello, my friends! I hope you’re staying cozy and having fun with holiday baking, shopping and decorating. I’m keeping it super simple this year. No tree or holiday lights because I plan on bringing the Christmas cheer to Dad. But after reading the December issue of ReLoved, it inspired me to create some Minimalists Holiday Decor in my bedroom.
Leafing through the magazine was a good reminder that things don’t need to be all or nothing. When you have a lot going on in life, doing what you can – when you can is perfectly okay – even around the holidays. 🙂
To really drive this point home, my bedroom isn’t even finished yet!… but I’m itching to show you how it’s coming along. I enjoy seeing how other peoples decorating ideas evolve, so I hope you feel the same way.
I’m still waiting for my Wayfair rug to be delivered. It should be here in the next day or two. I’m excited because I’ve wanted a jute rug for some time now, so it will be a gift-to-myself before Christmas.
And do you recognize the chair? In a past post, I tried painting these two velour chairs and it didn’t go well. Over the holidays I’m hoping to find some time paint and reupholster them. It’s a little intimidating because my sewing skills are if-ee, but I’m looking forward to the challenge. If they turn out (keeping my fingers crossed), it will be one of those posts where I say- if I can do it, ANYONE can!
My bedroom is a fair size with sloped ceilings. Finding furniture and lighting that is practical and feels balanced is a bit of a challenge, but it’s definitely coming along. And I LOVE my new hanging light. A big thank you to all of you who chimed in on FB!
Still On the To-Do-List:
- Rug
- Paint and Reupholster Chairs
- Wall Hangings
- Wall Treatment – Shiplap, brick.. not sure yet
- Book-Nook or Desk in the corner
- Knit Throw for the bench

For the minimalist Christmas decor, I cut fresh greenery from my backyard to make the embroidery hoop wreaths for the window. I also put together a tiny evergreen wreath for my headboard and added greenery and pinecones throughout the room. Super simple. I also added a few faux boxwood garlands and gold bows and accents and voila! It adds elements of the outdoors and a little holiday cheer.
HOW’S YOUR HOLIDAY DECORATING COMING ALONG? FEEL FREE TO CHIME IN OR SAY ‘HI’… I ALWAYS LOVE HEARING FROM YOU!
Have yourself a beautiful day!

Denise, would you mind sharing where you got you bed linens?
Hi DiB… for sure… it’s a mishmash! The 3 large white down pillows from HomeSense. Floral pillows and throw on the bottom is an actual duvet cover set from Ikea. The rouched grey duvet cover from QuiltsEtc in Mapleview Mall but I also found they sell them on Amazon which I linked to in this post. https://salvagedinspirations.com/annie-sloan-french-linen…/ . The white cotton blanket at the bottom of the bed – I don’t remember because it was so many years ago. 🙂
Thank you so much for your reply….so appreciated!

Thanks! And Merry Christmas to you my friend. Big holiday hugs to you! XO
Happy Holidays Denise!! Your decorating is truly stunning and I thank you for sharing it. I too have decided to minimize my decorating this year and have been quite pleased by the results. In fact, it has prompted me to take a good review of my lifestyle and apply the same minimalist techniques in other areas of my life. I think we forget that sometimes less is more.
Thanks, :)… and I so agree – sometimes less is more! And I’m right with you with trying to apply more of a minimalist attitude and lifestyle. Happy Holidays to you and yours Josi! … and I bet your xmas decor looks amazing. xo
