Happy Tuesday to you… feels like a Monday for me because I’m just coming off a long weekend… gotta love these long weekends!
Aside from using rubbing alcohol to determine if a paint is oil or latex, I’ve been using today’s quick-tip to remove paint from glass and mirror… and it works like a charm.
Even if you have OLD latex paint on a window or mirror, if you wet the paint with some rubbing alcohol and rub, the paint wipes off quickly.
You can also use rubbing alcohol to remove latex paint from your clothes. Just pour some rubbing alcohol on the spot and rub with a toothbrush or nubby wash cloth before throwing the item in your washing machine.
If you know of other ways to remove paint or any other great uses for rubbing alcohol… I’d love to hear them.
And like always… you can find last weeks Q-T-T here. 🙂
Have a fabulous day!

Will this work on brass hinges?
I’m not sure as I’ve never tried rubbing alcohol and brass. BUT I have heated some white vinegar in a pot and dropped in painted brass hardware and it works great!
100 proof alcohol takes paint off vinyl windows. (Everclear)
Hi – do you ladies know how I could remove paint from outdoor brick? Would rubbing alcohol work?
Kristian, rubbing alcohol won’t remove paint from brick. Brick is porous so a paint remover or brick/patio acid with a stiff brush should do the job. Using either/or requires proper protection ie eye wear, heavy duty gloves etc because of the chemicals. 🙂
I like my brushes to be really clean. This is one of the best tips ever! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Baby wipes will remove paint off glass, wood haven’t tried clothes
Baby Wipes!… thanks Dawn! 🙂
I absolutely love your quick tip Tuesdays! Look forward to them every week. This one is amazing! I tried it on a window (we’ve been painting mouldings) and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the tip!
Yaaaaay… and thank you Lia! 🙂 I recently used rubbing alcohol to take paint off the mirrors I used to re-purpose a 70’s stereo cabinet …makes the clean-up so easy doesn’t it!
What’s makes paint brushes get really clean?
I’ve used it to clean a half gallon of spilt paint out of a carpet. While the paint was wet I soaked up as much as possible. Poured bottles of alcohol on it. Hired a carpet cleaner, they couldn’t get it all out so I started again with the alcohol. I got it all out with no evidence of it. It was a vacation home for my client so I was lucky they weren’t there to see it.
OMG… I would have been freaking Josi! That’s amazing that it all came out!
