Hey you… I hope your doing well and thanks for dropping by. {big smile}
Today’s Quick-Tip-Tuesday is a little unconventional but I think it’s safe to say, equally as important!
As I was flying home from my Hollywood/Vegas vacation, I was thinking of blogging, furniture painting, traveling, photography, re-purposing, and most importantly, the AMAZING week I had just spent with my sister Andrea.
All the above have one thing in common… they make my heart sing!
We all want to feel happy right?
But do you ever feel insecure… or question the direction your life has taken or the choices you’ve made?
Where am I going? What more do I need to do to get there? Am I on the right path?
I totally get it!!!
There have been some long nights when I’ve stayed awake doubting my decisions. There have been other times when I’ve compared myself to others and wondered ‘am-I-good-enough’.
But here’s the thing… there are plenty of days where hours fly by like minutes. I feel inspired and creative.
It feels like PLAY!
I’m having FUN and I KNOW I’m on purpose and doing WHAT I LOVE!
So here are a few things I like to keep in mind. I hope you find these tips helpful and inspiring.
Tip #1 ~ Be the wonderful unique person you are and don’t be afraid to express your individuality.
A few months back the question was asked; why haven’t I honed into one specific “style” of furniture painting yet.
I’m a creative sort, get bored easily, enjoy learning new things and like to try EVERYTHING. It’s fun to blog and share different techniques because I know if I can do it… you can do it!
The kicker of this story is the person that asked me this question was ME! That’s right, I sometimes have to remind myself that being unique and doing things differently is a good thing!
Tip#2 ~ Be grateful for everything.
I practice gratitude everyday. I appreciate simple things. Walking with my toes in the sand, petting a puppy, fluffy cotton clouds in a bright blue sky, or dipping my fingers into cans of paint to mix that perfect custom color.
But most of all… I’m extremely grateful for the people in my life.
Family, friends, and all the amazing interesting people I meet along the way. You can learn so much and gather inspiration from everyone you meet!
Tip#3 ~ Do things that make your heart sing.
Simple right? Yes and no. It’s easy to get caught up in all our daily ‘to-do’s and lose track of the things that REALLY make us happy.
Don’t put off enjoying your life.
Head out and do the things that make you happy… today! All the little fun things will add up to a full inspired life.
Live, love and laugh!
Work hard at whatever it is you love to do and play equally hard with the people, places, and things that call out to you.
So what are you going to do today to make YOUR heart sing? I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback.
And as always, if you missed last weeks Q-T-T you can find it here.

Looks like you had a lot of fun on your vacation Denise. You are always such an inspiration.
Every time I go out to run errands, etc., I always like to do something kind for someone. Usually just a simple thing like helping out an elderly person at the grocery store and chatting with them for a while. I also remember helping a young couple out at Hobby Lobby once when they were trying to put a flower arrangement together and I gave suggestions and they were appreciative for my help. I also was in Target the other day and they had no baskets in the front, so I went outside and gathered up about 5 baskets and brought them in and gave to other people. Just makes you feel good to help out and do a good deed. Thanks for sharing your tips.
You’re an inspiration Judy! I truly believe that the ‘simple’ things we do for others can make a HUGE difference in someones day. And funny that you mention Hobby Lobby. When I visited Josi at Vintage Home she gave me the directions to a Hobby Lobby not far from her shop. I now have HOBBY LOBBY ENVY…lol!
Hi Denise: I was inspired by your Tips and your FUN Photos! Seriously, I think they were wonderful and a good reminder for us all to STOP being so critical of ourselves and just ENJOY! Have fun in life, and STOP and smell the roses, life is to short not to! I really love your photos also, you have a great eye. I love to take pictures and so I am interested in what camera you used as the quality of the pictures is fantastic! You could actually do a side job of photography I am sure! You are such a talented gal, and you inspire so many of us, I sure hope you continue doing all sorts of fun items and don’t just get stuck on one! I love checking out your site and seeing just what you are up to!!! Aloha, Lianna
Aloha Lianna and Mahalo nui loa.. I hope I have that right! When I vacations I don’t usually bring my DSLR with flash, lens etc it takes up space. The camera we use on vacay is Andrea’s Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera. It’s a few years old (and so is my Nikon D80) but still works great! Amazing pics can be taken with ANY type of camera. I like the little saying “It’s the violinist, not the violin that makes beautiful music. 🙂
What a nice surprise to see you and Andrea again! Thank you for taking the time to stop and say hello. I hope one day to make a trip to your neck of the woods as we Americans say. I’ve already told several people about your trip to ZZYZX Rd. and no one had any idea it was like that. It took two girls from Canada to tell me about something in our own backyard. Until we meet again and I’ll look forward to hearing your music.
It was so fun seeing you again Josi! Did you tell your friends how scared I was driving along that hot desolate road to ZZYZX…lol. So worth it when I got there though. 🙂
Dancing with my sweetie makes my endorphins flow…that’s heart singing.
Finishing a really nice paint job then, thinking about what I’ll paint next…. makes my heart sing.
Having lunch every 2 weeks with the half dozen women who live here in the summer and snowbird it back south in the autumn…makes my heart sing in tune with theirs.
Taking a supper casserole from the local cafe to share with three friends who live in the assisted living facility where my father lived and died…..makes my heart sing.
The first sight of my sweetie’s smile when he arrives for a long weekend…makes my heart overflow and my body tingle and my heart just shimmer and glimmer and heartsing the Ode to Joy…..
I L-O-V-E it MJ and appreciate you sharing! I hope this encourages others to focus on what makes their heart shimmer and glimmer and overflow!
