I L-O-V-E to travel. Meeting new friends and experiencing new places always lifts my spirits and inspires my creativity.
My sister and I recently vacationed in Las Vegas. FABULOUSLY FUN and the desert landscape is BREATHTAKING. If you’ve ever thought of visiting Nevada… definitely a must see… it’s remarkable!
Here’s the thing, when Andrea and I vacay, we’re not big planners. We choose a destination and then head in “that” direction. If we see anything interesting along the way, we STOP to explore. This is how we stumbled upon Vintage Home in lovable Boulder City while on-route to Hoover Dam.
Josi, the owner of Vintage Home opened her doors June 2013. Vintage Home is a shabby chic paint shop, specializing in up-cycled furniture and Cece Caldwell’s eco-friendly chalk and clay paints. Before Josi painted furniture, she was a Professional Faux Wall Painter… which makes perfect sense since it was her storefront wall (shown above) which first caught my attention!
Due to an injury which prevents her from going up and down ladders, she’s using her artistic faux painting talents to to transform and up-cycle furniture.
Take a look at some of the charming furniture re-do’s in her shop!
Once a painter, always a painter, right?
Vintage Home also offers CeCe Caldwell Paint Technique Work Shops, custom painted pieces and all the supplies you’ll need to transform anything in your home. Need advice on Faux Techniques?… Josi’s your go-to-gal!
Check out her walls!
And true to the glitz and glam around the city of Las Vegas, Vintage Home displays gorgeous glitter tables and chairs.
This sparkle paint technique is a must try for me in the near future!
If you’re in the area and would like to drop by Vintage Home, the shop is located at 1001 Nevada Hwy. Boulder City NV.
You can also visit online at Vintage Home Facebook .
To Josi ~ thank you for being so warm and welcoming to the 2 “Canadian-Sisters” who found your gem of a shop on-route. I appreciate you sharing your story and expertise.
Your faux paint techniques are inspiring… and I look forward to coming back for a visit one day soon.
**Hugs** because I’m a hugg’er too! 😉
Have a fabulous day!
Oh my gosh. this is old. that is Josie with Paint Pixie!!
YESSSSS! I visited Josie a few times in Las Vegas when she still had her shop. She was selling her furniture makeovers and DIY Paints before she started Paint Pixie. Love Josie. She’s the one that turned me onto Hobby Lobby! 😃
I am looking for someone to transform 2 desks for me. Do you know anyone willing to do for me?
Where are you located, Sam?
Loved your shop . . . The glitter on the furniture gave it a rich feeling. I love glitz and bling. Glad to see that you are still in the paint business so to speak. Would have been such a loss to people like me if you had not been able to continue in a similar line of work. What an inspiration you are! Going to San Francisco in April. What would be the approximate distance from there to your part of the country?
Dee, I’m sure Josi would love the visit! I’m not sure how far San Fransisco is from Boulder City but if you contacted the store I’m sure they could tell you. 🙂
Beautiful re-do’s. Love them.
Looks like a fun trip and you also discovered a very talented lady! Beautiful work! Thanks
Judy
Very FUN and Josi’s very talented. It’s so nice meeting other painters with different techniques… very inspiring!
Josi is a good friend of mine and we met by accident really. I used to use Annie Sloan chalk paint and the store I used to go to was closed for the day so I stopped in Josi’s store to pick up the color I needed. From that day forward I have developed a new friendship that I cherish and I look to her as my mentor. I am SO happy for her that you wanted to blog about her store, thats a BIG compliment 🙂 Way to go Josi!
I can see why you became fast friends Amy. While my sister and I were in her store, a customer came in asking questions about painting kitchen cabinets. Josi was really warm and generous with her help and advice.
Denise the pleasure was all mine. I am so honored that you would want to blog about my store. I appreciate it so much. I hope one day that I can visit you in Canada someday. I will be following your blog now and can’t wait to see what I can learn from you too. Hopefully someday I’ll see some glitter in your life. Hugs from Boulder City.
I hope some day you can come up for a visit too! If not to the GTA, maybe the Cross Canada Train Journey your husband’s interested in… our landscape is very different than Nevada’s! Oh, and watch my blog for some glitter! Once I get some time between custom orders, I’m going to give this a try! 🙂
Love that gold glitter chair!!! Very cool!! Will have to check her out when I visit:-)
I’m sure Josi would love that… and Boulder City is such a charming town!
