THESE BLEACHED PINECONES ARE PERFECT FOR HOLIDAY STYLING AND NO BLEACH IS REQUIRED!
Hi, sweet #sifamily! Here’s a simple 5-minute holiday styling project that’s perfect for Fall or Christmas Decor — Bleached Pinecones! The best part is NO BLEACH IS REQUIRED so no splash mishaps or smelly fumes.

Here’s what I started with. These pinecones were picked right off the ground. If you’re in an area that doesn’t have pine trees, they often sell bags of pine cones at dollar stores or garden nurseries.

Plastic Cup
Cotton Chalk Mineral Paint
Water | Stir Stick
BLEACHED PINECONES IN 5-MINUTES
This process is super simple and takes less than 5-minutes to do minus the dry time.
PAINT
Choose white paint. Any water-based paint will work for this but I chose this pure white Cotton. I poured about a 1-cups worth into a large plastic cup.
WATER
To create a whitewash, I added equal parts water — about a cup’s worth. It doesn’t really matter the temperature of the water so long as it’s not too warm.
MIX
I mixed the paint and water together to create my whitewash.
DUNK
Here’s the fun part! I dunked each pinecone into the wash to completely submerge it into the whitewash. They tend to want to float so a paint stick was really helpful to get complete coverage. You could get creative though. A half whitewashed and half natural pinecone would look amazing as well!
DRY
And that’s it! Here they are drying!
I love an easy and fast styling project that packs a punch for the season!
At this time of year, I sometimes feel torn between the seasons but these cuties work for a Fall Tablescapes or Christmas Decor!

I love this idea! We have the pine trees near us that have pine cones that look like rosettes. I will give it a try!
We have those rosette kinds of pinecones here as well… that would look sooo good!
Nice, so farmhouse-y looking. I once did some & painted only the tips with a small brush.

Doesn’t need to be white paint, does it? I’ll try some silver sparkles, also red. Maybe green. (Probably more paint and less water.) Think it will work?

I have a wire ring and I just collected a bunch of white and red pine cones to make a wreath. Xant wait to ‘bleach’ some and put it together. Great ideas once again

Hi Denise! I was just reading someone’s blog on bleached pinecones and I thought they were so pretty but I love these because no bleach required. I’m sure I would have made a mess. Thank you for this idea. Congratulations to the winners! Are you sure you read them right though? LOL 🙃
