A SHIMMERY GLITZ EXTRAVAGANZA! HERE ARE 25 STUNNING METALLIC PAINTED FURNITURE IDEAS TO SPARK YOUR CREATIVITY ALONG WITH 10 EASY TIPS TO GET THIS GLAM FINISH!
Do you love the shimmer of gold, bronze, silver, zinc, and copper as much as I do?
As much as I LOVE metallics, I don’t get to paint many. Unfortunately, they are not big sellers around here. The few pieces I have painted sat around for months before I had a buyer and even then, I reduced the price and barely made a profit. I don’t know if it’s because us Canadians are more conservative than our friends south of the border – I mean let’s face it – you Texans have the glitz market cornered and these metallics down to a fine art!!! – or if it’s because there’s a smaller niche for shimmery furniture?… not sure…but it’s a super hot look and worth giving another try.
In the meantime, I’ve rounded up some of my favorites for you!
A BIG thank you to all the super talented contributors for today’s post. There is SO much talent and creativity here and many of these posts lead to some excellent tutorials on metallic paint for furniture. Stunning! So inspirational and now my wheels are spinning. Love the black chest with the metallic stripe. I just think you are ahead of the trend. Maybe you just need to show customers how your metallic pieces can work with anyoneโs style. A little glitz and glam can fit in anywhere.if done right.
Thank you, Lynn! I’m so glad you enjoyed the roundup!
Iโm intrigued by the metalic look. So I bought some metallic paint and started small on frames! I love the look….who knows next time many a jewelry box then a nightstand!

Hi Kerrie! So happy all these talented ladies and gents gave you some ideas for your 1940’s set of drawers. Silver and pink sounds amazing! ๐
You are 100% correct about glitz in Texas! It does sell here in Houston.
ahhaaa, I thought sooo! ๐ I see a lot of metallic furniture makeovers being created by artists that live in and around Texas… it must sell like hotcakes. I wish it sold faster here!
Amazing transformation! I am now rethinking the chalk coloring. This is way more fun to look at.

Be still my beating heart..what a beautiful collection of shiny inspiration! I adore a metallic finish and personally find it a fabulous way to inject personality and glamour into a room. Thank you for the links to all of these amazing pieces
My pleasure Rita! …”fabulous way to inject personality and glamour into a room”… couldn’t agree more!! ๐
Love the metallic and have a perfect piece to use it on . However it has cane in the sides and one side .the cane is broken in several places Have you ever replaced cane in an item ? This is a bench from Pier One I bought second hand for $50.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance ,
Shelby
Hi Shelby! ๐ I have not replaced cane. I’ve painted it. Stained it. Ripped it out. But never replaced it. So I don’t have any first-hand advice but here’s a great article I found… hope this helps. ๐
I browsed these while drinking my morning coffee. This was a beautiful way to start my day. Wonderful roundup, thanks for sharing. ~ Nicki
Aw, thanks Nicki! It was a wonderful fun post to create too… so much furniture eye candy. ๐
Hi Denise! I don’t know why but I am not a fan of the metallic furniture. I cant wait to see what you do with it. Maybe you can change my mind
I don’t know Cheryl… if these makeovers haven’t changed your mind I’m guessing mine won’t LOL. Anyway, personal preference is precious. If everyone liked the same style –this world would be a pretty boring place. It’s good to know what makes YOU light up. xo
Great Tips! I have never worked with metallics, so this was very informative and inspirational. Beautiful examples of what can be done. Thank you!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the roundup Liz!! XO And even though I usually use metallics on hardware, highlights, and details, couldn’t live without it! A little can make a HUGE impact. ๐
Wonderful. It gives ideas and options when painting something.
It’s giving me a ton of ideas too! ๐
Denise,
What a beautiful assortment oh โglitzy furniture, I have a set of old metal candlestick holders,. I am thinking of painting them. Do you have suggestions or tutorials on painting metal objects?
Your ideas on various projects change the entire look of a piece…unbelievable!
Thank you!
Carli Eitnier
Hi Carli! If it’s a slick metal surface – I like to use a bonding primer or Slick Stick. Really helps with adhesion. Love the candlestick holder idea!
Wow, amazing work.
Right!? They are all gorgeous! ๐
They are all beautiful.
They really are!…totally agree. Thanks for stopping by Betty. ๐
First, I am not a shiny, metallic kind of person. That being said, I absolutely ADORE the rose gold piece. I love EVERYTHING you did to the piece and the work you must have put into it. Job well done!.
Hi Linda!! ๐ I love the rose gold makeovers too… and I wish I could take credit but this roundup is showcasing other artists work. The original artist is linked under the image if you’d like to check out some of their other pieces. ๐
Wow! I didn’t think I was a metallic person until I saw your curated collection – these are wonderful! I love the dripping gold piece, and the Tracey’s Fancy piece is a knockout – so whimsical. They’re all great. It would be fun to have a metallic piece in a room – the wheels are spinning! Thank you!
That dripping gold piece… right!!! ๐ Omgosh, and Tracey’s work is ALWAY spot on… she’s such a talent as are all of these artists. So glad you enjoyed the roundup, Marcia. XOXO
I absolutely love the metallic look. In fact I have a queen size bed frame that I will be doing in black metallic with gold leaf accents
ohhhh ahhhhhh….I LOVE the sounds of this! have fun Colleen. I’d love to hear how it turns out for you!
Hi Denise. Ooooh…I LOVE all the pretty eye candy in this post! These pieces are beautiful. I agree with you, metallic furniture is sophisticated and timeless, but it must not be as popular as it should be in my area because I rarely see it. Boooo:( lol Thanks for sharing these gorgeous pieces. I canโt wait to click through and check out your furniture painting friends.
I’m sure they’d love to see you! And ya, some areas sell metallics like hotcakes and others not so much. ??? After putting together this gorgeous post, I’m tempted to say the heck with it and just start painting shiny pieces regardless…lol.
I so hate this collection had to end! I love everything, โค๏ธ of course we all have our favorites but these artists all do an outstanding job! Each has there own little niche that makes them unique from the others. I had these kinds of things in my head while raising a family but never had the opportunity to take advantage nor did I ever have the support. My head still has all this talent running through it and Iโm trying to solicit one of my 7 grandchildren to do the work. Unfortunately the only one that has the โeyeโ for this is one granddaughter who lives 3000 miles from me…lol! Just my luck….life is good! This has been a treasure trove to go through. Thank you for sharing and keep on painting!
Shirley… I read you’re first 5 words and thought whaaaaat???? … until I finished reading “had to end”…LOL. I’m SOOOO happy you enjoyed the roundup and it has inspired your creativity. Now we just have to figure out how to get that granddaughter of yours to move closer! hehe ๐
Beautiful work and a great collection! Love the tips, too!
Hi Susie!! ๐ Such talent is was fun putting this collection together!
