Guess what I picked up last night?
No… get your mind off the hotties and take a look at this vintage beauty! 😉
You all know I L-o-V-e restyling vintage sideboards and china cabinets!
I’m so happy with this Kijiji find. It’s 5 feet long, elegant, and has gorgeous detail and curves.
And have you ever seen such a long drawer? It stretches the full length of the buffet!
Both side doors need repair but other than that, some cosmetic work will turn this gorgeous. I can’t wait to start working on it. I’ll keep you all posted!
And for those of you following me on FB, I did eventually find a bathroom mirror for above my refreshed vanity.
It took me a while though.
I had to really search because most of the mirrors I liked were way too large for my space. My bathroom is a modest 6×8 so everything needs to be on a smaller scale.
This HomeSense mirror was reduced and sold as-is because it has a small crack in the frame – but that’s easy enough to fix.
I even love to rescue the unwanted pieces from retail stores. 🙂
Do you ever do retail rescues? Chime in and share your retail bargains!
Have a great day and an amazing weekend!

I have a mirror similar to that one but it had an ugly paint job so were you going to paint yours or leave it. Which do you think would be easier to spray it or use a brush?
Hi Teri! I left this mirror exactly as is for my bathroom restyle but it’s all personal preference. If you wanted total coverage spraying would be easier because a spray paint will get into all the crevices and detail. If you wanted to go with more a distressed look, brush would work just fine. π
I recently came across and bought a buffet that closely resembles the one you picked up and was wondering if you had decided on a color to paint your buffet? Waiting to see what color you decide to go with.
Ahhh, lucky you. They’re such beautiful buffets aren’t they! I still haven’t decided on a color Steve – but when I do, I’ll be sure to post the finished piece for all of you to see. I’d be interested to see what you do with your buffet too!
That was a great find!! All that amazing detail is to die for!
Amazing detail…can’t wait to start but it hasn’t told me what color it wants to be yet. π
I love the mirror Anthe buffet I saw one similar to it that someone had made a bench out of by removingthe legs iI live in a small Illinois town where people put the best stuff on the curb the other day I saw a metal table and 4 chairs in great shape for the trash truck you know the ones that people put in like fifties kitchens chrome legs and red top red vinyl chairs couldn’t get it in my car but I would have it was so cool anyway I,all keep my eyes out for more great stuff keep going and we will have great fun good luck with the buffet
I’m going to ‘google’ that to see if I can find one of these sideboards turned bench…I’d love to check that out. And there’s something really charming about those retro kitchen sets with the chrome legs and Formica tables isn’t there! Lucky you that you’re in an area where people put out some great finds Ellen!
What a GORGEOUS cabinet!! I can’t wait to see it all pretty and polished like it was when it was new. π
The mirror you picked out looks great, too. Great finds!
Thanks Zovesta!
Sigh.i have a small scale version of that buffet but it’s too small for our dining room. I covet, like mad, this one you found. I’ve been looking sporadically but noooo, never when you’re looking, right?
Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
I also rescue stuff from clearance. .lol
Chez, were kindred spirits! π And you’ll find your perfect buffet when you least expect it. That’s often how it works! There are so many things you can use your smaller version for though. If I had a smaller replica of this it would definitely be in my living room or bedroom!
Beautiful piece! I can’t wait to see what you do with it π
I’m undecided for now – but I’m going to wait until it speaks to me π
I would love a buffet like that. I am wondering what I could expect to pay at a thrift store for a similar item? I know it also depends on the area you live in. I am excited to see what you do with it!
Hmmm, I’m not sure about the thrift stores in your area Kathi, but here in Burlington and GTA, I VERY rarely see pieces like this. I would suggest keeping your eyes peeled on Craigslist or Kijiji and you’d probably have much better luck. π
I’m going to start calling you “The Rescue Princess” Denise. π Another great find with the cabinet. Gorgeous detail and you will, no doubt, work your magic on it and make it spectacular.
I know right…even in retail stores! lol…but I like that nickname Carole! π π π
My kind of mirror, wood, ornate, sculpted. Hmm, wonder if my HomeSense would have the same one! Great looking sideboard. Sigh, no such luck in my neck of the woods & if I do find anything similar they are asking retail antique store prices for it. Look forward to the after.
We have similar taste Tracy. π This is my kind of mirror too. Very feminine and ornate and I love the natural wood showing through. My local HomeSense has this exact same mirror in a large rectangle shape but this was the last oval. I’m pretty sure many of their stores carry the same inventory though. And as for the sideboard, I’m super lucky I find great deals. You can come shopping in my neck of the woods anytime!!! π
