A SALVAGED FB MARKETPLACE FIND GETS REPURPOSED INTO A BOHO HEADBOARD!
I’m hoping today’s post will spark some ideas and offer inspiration to think outside the box! I’m excited to share my latest find — a repurposed BOHO HEADBOARD! It’s not really a headboard though. I’ve been bouncing around DIY Headboard Ideas so when I saw this carved wood wall art, I knew it was perfect! I can’t wait to hear what you think!
Here’s what I started with. I found this Boho looking wall decor on FB Marketplace. It was originally listed for $100 but reduced to $40.
Here’s what it looks like as my new boho headboard!

BOHO HEADBOARD
For those of you who know me, you know I rarely buy new furniture. My home is filled with salvaged road finds, thrift store pieces, and flea market/garage sale treasures. It’s not that I don’t like new things. For me, it’s all about the thrill of the hunt and what I can create with what I find. I’m also a huge believer a home should come together organically. My style is a little eclectic and I’m not one to follow a trend to a ‘t’ but instead, I like a little of this and a little of that to make things interesting.
Lately, I’ve been incorporating a little more boho into my decor. This includes plants, macrame wall art, throw pillows (ordered from Amazon but haven’t arrived yet), and a lot of textured throws. I’m really happy I found this new-to-me headboard. And NO painting needed. I’m going to keep this carved wood look. If I get bored of it and decide I want to change it up, I can always paint it another color down the line.
STEP #1 Clean
I started by giving this piece a thorough cleaning with a scrub brush and this White Lightning heavy-duty cleaner. It took some time to get into all the nooks and crannies of the wood carving details.
STEP #2 Measure and Center
I measured and centered the wall hanging above the bed. Then marked out the corners with a pencil.
STEP #3 Mark Screw Hole Positions
To make sure I hung it exactly where I wanted it, I subtracted 4 inches from the top pencil mark and 3/4 of an inch from the side pencil mark to match up with the hanger on the back of the headboard.
STEP #4 Drill and Hang
I drilled some 1 3/4 inch screws into the wall (thicker because of my faux brick!) and hung my new Boho Headboard!
Super easy!
I’m loving this new headboard! It adds a boho vibe without being over the top. It ties the wood in the bedroom all together while giving it some natural warmth and interesting detail.
I bought some wall mount lights at the Restore and would love to mount one on each side above these night tables. I decided to keep these nightstands for now. 🙂
Here’s another look at the before and after…
I’ll be back with my Furniture Fixer Upper Crew this Thursday restyling this 90’s Wing Chair. Look familiar? This will be [hopefully…wish me luck!) an exciting part 2 of this makeover!

Sweet marketplace find, Denise. It’s like it was waiting to become the perfect headboard, I think it looks great with your night tables.
Thanks Marie! Gotta love FB Marketplace! Have a super weekend my friend. XOXO
I love the headboard. I check marketplace almost every day but don’t find much cheap enough to make a profit. Did u paint a trunk in monochromatic beige tones. I want to do one and pull that tutorial up but can’t locate it thanks. Always live your work
Thanks Sandy! I’m trying to remember a beige trunk I painted but the only ones popping to mind are this trunk and this trunk. Is it either of these?
Love the look you created! Great idea to use that as head board.
Yaay, thank YOU! Hope you’re well and staying safe my friend! XOXO
That is WAY COOL! Love that you chose not to paint it. So unique!!
Thanks, Jeannie!! XOXO

Thanks, Cynthia!
Girl, I ❤️ your style!
Thanks! I like switching it up because I get bored! At least I’m not killing all my house plants now…lol.
Clever you! I would have never thought of using wall art as a headboard, but this works beautifully. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for dropping by! Have a great day Sue! x
Your BoHo is so fun! I’m checking out your brick wall. The brick looks so real! Clever girl making that headboard! Looks nice.
Aw, thanks! I was debating on painting the faux brick before I found this piece but now that it’s up I think I’ll leave it be for a while. 🙂
Well done! Looks great in your room. Great thinking outside the box!
Thanks Susan! 🙂
Beautiful! What a lucky find!
Thanks… and for $40 bucks…very lucky! 😉
Hi Denise. Oh my gosh…your bedroom looks like a tropical boho paradise:). I am always so surprised at what people will get rid of. What a gorgeous detailed piece of wall art. Brilliant as a new headboard. Thanks for sharing.
Aww, thank Monique! I have to admit I’m so happy with my house plants. While my Dad was ill I was ignoring them and the poor things were dying on me right left and center so it’s nice to have some greenery back. XOXO
