TODAY, I’M SHARING MY FAVORITE PLACES TO BUY FURNITURE HARDWARE ALONG WITH A FREE PRINTABLE GUIDE AND FURNITURE KNOB GIVEAWAY!
Hi friends and thanks for joining me today! This past weekend my sister Andrea and I were in Rochester NY for a little shopping therapy. Aside from picking up a cough and cold (which I haven’t had in SO many years I’ve forgotten how annoying a sore throat and runny nose actually are!) I also stopped for a Furniture Hardware Haul. Some girls buy shoes, I buy hardware. After hitting 3 separate Hobby Lobby’s, I’m pretty sure all these handles and knobs will last me a while. Who can resist 50% off, right?!
THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS TO PRODUCTS I USE. YOU CAN SEE MY FULL DISCLOSURE HERE.
For all the years I’ve been painting furniture, I’ve learned hardware can really make or break a piece. And even if you’re not a furniture painter, changing out the hardware on an existing piece of furniture and/or cabinets can really update the look… and it’s such a cost-effective way of doing it!
Because you all know I’m pretty thrifty, my FAVORITE place to source knobs and handles is from existing old furniture. I keep ALL the hardware I pull off my vintage pieces which have amassed into quite an interesting stash. And I have fun mixing and matching, painting, gilding or decoupaging old hardware to create new looks.
But aside from repurposing hardware, here are some of my favorite places to buy. I’ve included stores and online resources in the US and Canada. The great thing is if you’re in Canada and want to purchase from say Hobby Lobby (US) you can do so online… and vice-versa!
1. Hobby Lobby – They have a 50% off sale usually every other week and a great selection.
2. Amazon – A great online resource with plenty of variety… and it gets delivered right to your door!
3. Knobs 4 Less – Very reasonable prices and a great selection.
4. Home Depot – Yup. Home Depot carries some pretty good looking knobs.
5. Lee Valley – I shop at Lee Valley for specialty knobs. They are not inexpensive but they have an amazing selection of high-quality hardware.
6. Wayfair – Love Wayfair for all things home and they have a good selection of hardware too.
7. D. Lawless Hardware – I still haven’t ordered from here but they do have an amazing selection and I’ve heard excellent customer service.
8. Overstock – Often sells in sets rather than individuals.
9. Anthropologie – Love the selection but can get a little pricey when buying in bulk.
10. ReStore – Habitat for Humanity is a great resource of repurposed hardware. (and thanks for the reminder everyone… nearly forgot about this one!)

I tried to speed read many comments…..so I’m not sure if someone mentioned HABITAT FOR HUMANITY -The RE-STORE !! Talk about amazing prices on a wide variety of hardware for drawers, doors, cabinet doors…..all sorts of wonderful goodies!! I was able to find 24 matching drawer pulls/handles and 18 matching cabinet door knobs — the enamel knob w/brass base & enamel handles w/ brass end pieces…..50 cents each!! So try them if you have one near you……and they have lots of wonderful things for DIYers in general…..

Thanks for the giveaway! I’d love to replace the knobs in all three of my bathrooms. The ones you’re giving away look great.
I love Etsy for brass hardware. I also scour Ebay. Thank you so much for the resources, I totally agree with you, hardware makes the piece!
Thank YOU for sharing these resources. I’ve browsed Etsy for sure but never Ebay! Got to give it a try!!
Hi Denise. Great tips for where to buy knobs. I am also IN LOVE with Hobby Lobby. Wish me luck in your contest. I have two dressers in my home that are “crying” for new hardware. Lol:)

How interesting! Yes, changing out the hardware can totally change the look of a piece–making or breaking it! I’m hoping, at some point, to change up my very blah, modern bedroom furniture and definitely will want new hardware! Thanks for the opportunity to win. I don’t do too much these days, senior citizen now so it’s harder, but do enjoy finding pieces from time to time that can be reworked/recycled. I enjoy reading about and seeing all the different techniques you share. Thank you for your enthusiasm, expertise, and generosity!
Aw, thanks Teckla! I appreciate you dropping by and visiting. xo
I am totally I hooked on your blog!! You inspire not only me, but I am certain hundreds of others, to believe that I can also take a piece of old and tired furniture and transform it into a piece that is uniquely beautiful and new. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful ideas you give to us all.
You’re super sweet Pam! Thank you! 🙂
Nice giveaway!
I really like to shop for hardware. It always take me so long I prefer to go alone. My favorite spots are hobby lobby, lowes and world market.
Oh I hear you Eva. I can spend an hours+ searching for what I want. Luckily, when I go with Andrea she’s perfectly happy browsing for other things while I take my time. Sisters are the best.
Great post, hardware definitely makes an impact!!
Thank you for your post and the fun giveaway! I feel the same way, I’d rather collect hardware than shoes; “All that Glitters…” :^)
I love all of your pieces. Thanks for sharing!
Cool information. Did not know about most of them.
These are some good tips. I had not thought to check out Hobby Lobby. Thanks!
Love Hobby Lobby! Great fabric as well😉 thanks Denise , I’ll check the other websites for Hardware. Looking for vintage ceramic white teardrop door.pulls.
Funny that you bring up fabric. Andrea and I saw some GORGEOUS fabric there. I would have bought some but I wasn’t sure I had time for an upholstery project… but I kinda wish I did. 😐
Thanks for sharing your shopping spots for hardware, it really is the jewelry for a piece!
I love all the pieces you do and the fact that you share how to do them! Yours is definitely at the top of my favorite to read blogs!
Karen

I love your furniture redos.
One of my favourite places to buy knobs is Restore. Not only do I find some great hardware, CHEAP but I am contributing to housing families in need. Do you have a Restore in your area?
YES!! Thanks for adding this Merilees. I’ve found some great hardware for a $1 at my local ReStore!
Thank you for all the helpful tips and examples!!
Well I clicked and clicked and couldn’t write a comment; so I’ll write one here! Love hardware and it’s like icing on the cake!
Thanks Jackie… this is exactly where the comment goes! Appreciate you participating and good luck to you. 🙂
Hi Denise! Thanks for the list…. There’s a few I wouldn’t have thought of, or heard of! “House of antique hardware”is another with lots of choices. D.Lawless is wonderful! (IMHO)
Your stash give away is awesome! I’m looking at a small chest right now that’s just begging for some of those knobs! 😁
I’ll have to check out House of Antique Hardware… thanks! And thanks for participating. good luck to you Melanie. 🙂

Ok, on to my next project🎨
Thanks so much. Good luck to you! 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing your resources! I see a few I haven’t tried. yet. I LOVE furniture knobs!
The first thing I look for at a flea market/junk store is a box of old hardware. It’s like a treasure hunt sifting through them!
Nice giveaway, Thanks!
Did you only shop retail stores in Rochester or thrift stores too?
Thanks Lyn! Retail and thrift… always. 😉
Thank you for the list! I have not heard of some of the options. I like to reuse old ones, but sometimes they just don’t give the right look.. Hobby Lobby is very easy to order from, and with a half off every other week… it can get dangerous!
Yes…danger! 😉
I love a great pull/knob find! They can make a good piece look great!
Wow lots of goodies and thanks so much for the list of great hardware resources!
You inspire me on a daily basis!
Oh my!! I am envious a hardware shop feeds my soul. Thanks for the giveaway.
