TODAY, I’M SHARING MY FAVORITE PLACES TO BUY FURNITURE HARDWARE ALONG WITH A FREE PRINTABLE GUIDE AND FURNITURE KNOB GIVEAWAY!
Hi friends and thanks for joining me today! This past weekend my sister Andrea and I were in Rochester NY for a little shopping therapy. Aside from picking up a cough and cold (which I haven’t had in SO many years I’ve forgotten how annoying a sore throat and runny nose actually are!) I also stopped for a Furniture Hardware Haul. Some girls buy shoes, I buy hardware. After hitting 3 separate Hobby Lobby’s, I’m pretty sure all these handles and knobs will last me a while. Who can resist 50% off, right?!
THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS TO PRODUCTS I USE. YOU CAN SEE MY FULL DISCLOSURE HERE.
For all the years I’ve been painting furniture, I’ve learned hardware can really make or break a piece. And even if you’re not a furniture painter, changing out the hardware on an existing piece of furniture and/or cabinets can really update the look… and it’s such a cost-effective way of doing it!
Because you all know I’m pretty thrifty, my FAVORITE place to source knobs and handles is from existing old furniture. I keep ALL the hardware I pull off my vintage pieces which have amassed into quite an interesting stash. And I have fun mixing and matching, painting, gilding or decoupaging old hardware to create new looks.
But aside from repurposing hardware, here are some of my favorite places to buy. I’ve included stores and online resources in the US and Canada. The great thing is if you’re in Canada and want to purchase from say Hobby Lobby (US) you can do so online… and vice-versa!
1. Hobby Lobby – They have a 50% off sale usually every other week and a great selection.
2. Amazon – A great online resource with plenty of variety… and it gets delivered right to your door!
3. Knobs 4 Less – Very reasonable prices and a great selection.
4. Home Depot – Yup. Home Depot carries some pretty good looking knobs.
5. Lee Valley – I shop at Lee Valley for specialty knobs. They are not inexpensive but they have an amazing selection of high-quality hardware.
6. Wayfair – Love Wayfair for all things home and they have a good selection of hardware too.
7. D. Lawless Hardware – I still haven’t ordered from here but they do have an amazing selection and I’ve heard excellent customer service.
8. Overstock – Often sells in sets rather than individuals.
9. Anthropologie – Love the selection but can get a little pricey when buying in bulk.
10. ReStore – Habitat for Humanity is a great resource of repurposed hardware. (and thanks for the reminder everyone… nearly forgot about this one!)

I recently updated my antique dresser, painted it black and the hardware. I used gold rub then I watered down some black paint to get into all the crevices of the hardware and wiped off. It came out gorgeous. Thanks for all your inspiration. I wish I had the room to store curbside pieces, Thank you again for your wonderful website., so so talented.
That hardware sounds perfectly gorgeous! Hardware is like the jewelry on a piece, isn’t it? It can really make or break the entire look! 🙂
Where can we see who one the give-away?
I meant who “won” the give-away.
Hi Dana! The winner was posted on this week’s blog post which you can see here. 🙂
I agree with many of the sources you listed -especially Wayfair and Anthropologie. They are my go-tos!
Love your blog … the antique mirror transfer is to die for!! Thank you for sharing your talents.
Aw, thanks, Cheryl! xo

Fantastic tip about keeping old hardware from previous projects! Thanks, Denise !
i’m learning more and more and being challanged by your varying posts! thanks much for sharing
Thanks Denise for the tip on “t-nuts” for the addition of feet on a project. After reading your blog on how to white wash, l finally got the courage to try on a vintage dresser with fantastic results! Thanks!

I love all the knobs on your furniture pieces. And your pieces are gorgeous! So talented!!
Thanks Hanna! Good luck to you. x
Beautiful knobs. Some years back the city stopped people from putting items out that did not fit into the garbage containers and I certainly miss it. And if you can’t sell it then it goes to the dump. Our ReStore also closed down several years ago and I really wish we had a Hobby Lobby here in Lethbridge. We do however have Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes and Michaels (they are very expensive here in Canada, and we cannot use coupons on sale items). Resourcefulness is KEY. Love your blog and thank you for sharing.
I wonder why you ReStore closed down?? They keep popping up around here like crazy… new locations all the time. Anyway, I TOTALLY agree. Resourcefulness is KEY! Thanks for participating and good luck Barb. 🙂
Wow, great giveaway, Denise! Hubby was just in St. Catherines, Ontario last week for business and one evening headed south to Hobby Lobby and we shopped together via facetime. His shopping cart looked much like yours when we were done. His luggage was opened by security at the airport – they must have wondered what in the heck he was doing with all those knobs. LOL I hope you’re feeling better soon!
LOL.. shopping Hobby Lobby via Facetime…. brilliant!!! Wish you had come to St.Kits and we could have taken a Hobby Lobby run together! 🙂
Hi Denise! Thank you for the download. Hobby Lobby does have a great selection but it can get pricey if they are not half price. Sometime you can use your hardware for inspiration on a piece. The pieces in your basket look awesome! I am going to try and win this but again i get confused on the URL. I’m not exactly sure what that is. I need to get with the times. LOL Thank you for your blog. I look forward to it every week and anytime i need to know how to do something or get inspiration, i look to your blog so Thank you! Have a great week and keep creating.
Thanks Cheryl and good luck to you. And don’t worry about the URL. You can leave that totally blank unless you have a website/blog. 🙂
I can’t thank you enough for you list of places to get hardware. Awesome, and might I add to the list RESTORE. Most towns have a Habitat for Humanity Restore and they are a great source for all hardware needs and sometimes good buys on furniture as well.
YES! Another reader mentioned ReStore and I don’t know why I totally forgot about that while I was making up my list. In fact I’m going to go edit the post and add that into my list. Thanks Sue!
Thank you so much! Hobby Lobby is my go to place but it’s so nice to have other resources for knobs and handles. By the way, I love everything you do❤️
Knobs and hardware are like jewellery on furniture
I have a lot of salvaged hardware I pulled from curbside trash. I’ve found so many pieces that are literally piles of lumber, but I manage to swipe the hardware. I don’t have many glass or colorful knobs, and really love the ones you pictured. Thanks for the give-away!!!
I love all the knobs in the giveaway! The list of resources is very helpful. Thanks. When you put a rub on pulls or knobs, does it stay on good? Should it be sealed?
Hi Cecilia! If you’re referring to a rub on transfer design on knobs, they stay on remarkably well! I like sealing my transfers with a water-based wax or poly but you don’t have to.
Love your work. So many favs I’m not even gonna pic one.
Thanks Denise! I’m entered with all the bonuses! Yeah me- now to remember to do it daily; that’s the real chalk. 😂 You know I love everything you do – talent. You got it!
Darn. No edit button?!?! I look like a goof! …. let’s try YAY me instead LOL 😆
Darn. No edit button?!?! I look like a goof! …. let’s try YAY me instead as well as ‘challenge ‘ not ‘chalk’ seriously LOL 😆
Not at all Amy… if I told you how many times I’ve spelled something wrong or I mean my autocorrect buggered it up ahhhummmm… you wouldn’t believe. LOL Feel free to come back daily and enter as many times as you like.💕 I always love it when you drop by. XO
Sure Amy… good strategy my friend!🤣 Spell a word wrong and get 2 more entries LOL!!! 😉🤣
Sweet! Hobby lobby is a great place to get knobs, I am fortunate to have one close by. Also love salvage stores!
